Smoky Mountain Adventure Camp - About Us
Smoky Mountain Adventure Camp (SMAC), founded in 2002, grows yearly primarily through word-of-mouth recommendations, returning campers, and camper referrals. Despite its phenomenal growth it remains a small-group camp allowing each camper to get the most out of the camp experience. SMAC was founded on the principals of providing fun, exciting, adventure activities in a safe environment that encourages each camper to achieve individual goals and build self esteem. At SMAC we do just that as we embrace individuality, encourage group participation, inspire leadership qualities, and foster a safe and caring environment. Most campers return year after year and oftentimes sessions reach capacity many months before the beginning of camp.
Staff members are hand selected from numerous qualified applicants and most counselors are previous SMAC campers and graduates from the SMAC Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program. Our outfitters are experienced, high-spirited leaders who make safety the utmost priority.
The directors have spent three decades leading and inspiring youth. George served as scoutmaster for several years, led youth groups on adventure activities and is still an avid camper, backpacker, and hiker. Susan shares his love of the outdoors and worked for many years with youth of all ages as a teacher and school administrator.
We are located in the Smoky Mountains where we have a vast source of resources available to us for our adventure activities. Campers not only learn new adventures but enjoy some of the most beautiful scenery in the southeastern United States.
